When a person, like any complex animal, is unable to meet its own basic needs that person becomes anxious. The individual that can not meet its own needs is completely dependent upon external sources for getting those needs met - and must keep the people and systems meeting the needs agreeable enough to continue to do so. This amplifies the anxiety and exposes the individual to exploitation and compulsion by anyone in a position to deny their needs.
When you can not say “No”, your saying “Yes” is not cooperation. If your essential basic needs can be denied to you unless you comply - cooperation doesn’t exist for you.
Lack of competence to:
