As an eCommerce Evangelist, I lead the vision and strategy, mentor our project team on a customer and employee-centric approach to communications and project management, and provide thought leadership to the greater Magento community.
My Entrepreneurial Journey:
I decided in 1992 that, after 8 years of University, I would start a business selling computers. After all, I was a history major and this seemed at the time to make perfect sense. I sold my first business in 1993 and quickly grew a chain of 5 computer retail stores in the Twin Cities. In 1999 I realized the writing was on the wall for the computer business and sold my one remaining store and started on the journey of Computer programming.
My first Ecommerece website was created in 1995 called Einsteainlabs.com I had a rudimentary computer calculator that let you choose components then had a magic person who sat up in bed to all hours creating quotes in Excel and emailing them back to people. (Me)
I started working on Magento in 2009 and co-founded Wagento in 2012 with my wife with the urging of Bob Shwartz, the former President of Magento.
In 2014 I joined the Entrepreneurs Organization Accelerator program and in 2016 I graduated to EO! I joined the board of EO in 2018 as the MarCom chair and moved to the Membership Chair in 2020.
I am very proud of my team at Wagento and our growth in the US and especially Latin America. Although I speak very little Spanish we have now attained the top position in the Spanish-speaking region of Latin America as measured by certifications.
I started speaking at Magento events starting with Magento Live Germany in 2014, where I quickly learned that I Germans don't get my jokes. Later I learned no one gets my jokes. I have since given presentations, keynotes, and workshops all over the world (New York, Ahmedabad, Minneapolis, London, Singapore, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Mexico City, Barcelona, Munich, Leipzig, Mumbai and Austin, and Las Vegas) to name a few, on Customer experience. Project Management, Magento development, and more.
