About Me

Hello!

My name is Billy Lahr, and I am the host of The Mindful Midlife Crisis, a podcast for people navigating the complexities and possibilities of life’s second half. I am reaching out to you today because I believe my own midlife transition will resonate with your audience.

In 2021, I was one of 47 million Americans who quit their jobs due to my own burnout and priority re-evaluation. Following the challenges our nation’s educators faced during the pandemic, I no longer had the passion needed to work with high school students. For the next year and a half, I traveled all over the world in search of meaningful experiences to reignite my passion for helping others. Throughout my journey, I met many incredible people along the way, and during our conversations, I would share my story with them and how my mindfulness practice helped me navigate the challenges I faced during my time as an educator and as a midlife pivoter. What I learned from these conversations is that people all over the world were forced to confront their own mortality due to the pandemic, and they too were re-evaluating their priorities but needed guidance to do so with more intention and inspiration.

After learning more about the existential crisis of others from around the world, I decided to become a certified mindfulness teacher through the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Program with Sean Fargo. Through my introductory Reflect–Learn–Grow mindfulness program, I am now leading virtual and in-person mindfulness sessions to help people live with more curiosity, openness, compassion, and awareness while also sharing practical and intentional daily routines that focus on consistency and discipline

I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to share my story with your audience in an effort to help them better understand how they can enjoy and make the most of the life they have left to live in a more meaningful way.

Some life experiences I can share with your audience are:

–how cultivating a mindfulness practice not only changed my life but most likely saved it as well

–the importance of taking calculated healthy risks

–why I take an “alcohol sabbatical” every year

–why being told “Talking to you stresses me out” helped me stop being a people pleaser

–how understanding my love languages and attachment style helped me move away from chasing after unreciprocated attention to instead building a network of supporters who value who I am and what I have to offer

–why “Live life with no regrets”, “Everything happens for a reason”, “Just go with the flow,” and “Follow your passion” are empty/toxic statements

–why comfort zones are actually a good thing (most of the time)

–how morning and evening routines can maximize your daily output and efficiency

–how ditching “to-do” lists for “CHIPS” lists have made me more focused and productive

If you’d like more information or if you’d like to connect about having me be a guest on your show, feel free to email me at [email protected] or visit www.mindfulmidlifecrisis.com.

I look forward to hearing from you.
